MDE Code of Conduct & Behavior Matrix

Macdonald Drive Elementary is committed to developing a healthy learning community which promotes academic growth, enabling students to be contributing and respectful citizens. We are committed to providing a safe, caring and inclusive learning and working environment by promoting respect, responsible citizenship and academic excellence. A positive school climate exists when all members of the school community feel safe, comfortable and accepted.

Our Code of Conduct is a reflection of our mission statement and is a clear set of behavioral expectations that need to be modeled and practiced by all members of the school community. The Code of Conduct is taught to and enacted with all students in all settings at school.

The MDE Behavioral Matrix is a key component of our code of conduct. It identifies expected behaviors in various settings in our school. The matrix is taught to students in role-play situations in the setting to better help students learn the expected behaviors. This teaching takes place school-wide during the month of September, with reinforcements throughout the school year.

The Behavior Matrix is based on the following expected behaviors:
I am respectful
I am responsible
I am positive and kind
I am safe
