How Many Steps to Conquer Everest?

Macdonald Drive Elementary is excited to kick off the annual school Lap-A-Thon! Our Lap-A-Thon always sparks a high level of interest and enthusiasm among our students. We look for parent and student support in this event as the funds raised will go towards the continued rebuilding of our playground, and increasing literacy resources within our classrooms.

The intent of our Lap-A-Thon is to motivate our students to engage in some extra physical activity, while also proving opportunities for our students to learn about goal setting, the importance of work ethic, and how to work together to achieve common goals.

Students will be asked to obtain sponsors for running/walking around the gym. Our school goal this year is to reach the summit of Mount Everest (8850 meters). Students will wear pedometers as they complete their laps in the gym and these steps will be added together to see if we can reach the summit of Everest.

The Lap-A-Thon kick off assembly was held yesterday and students are pumped to reach the top!
