Welcome back to another year at Macdonald Drive
Elementary ! The first day of school for
students is Wednesday, September 4th.
Daily School Schedule 2013-2014:
8:30am: Doors Open
8:45 am: Instruction begins for the morning
10:15 am: Recess (15 minutes)
12:05pm: Lunch
1:00 pm: Instruction begins for the afternoon session
3:00pm: Dismissal
Important Changes to our School Parking Lots:
Our school parking lot is a very busy place during morning drop off and evening pick up, both at the front of the building as well as the back. Please exercise caution when dropping off/picking up your children. In order to ensure the safety of our students, we ask you to consider the following:
• Due to safety concerns regarding our wheelchair bus, which uses our community door, Kindergarten parents only are to use the side parking lot (by the soccer field), Macdonald Drive street-access. All others are to use the Toronto Street access back parking lot for pick-up and drop-off. There is no other parent parking or drop-off or pick-up in front of the school.
• There are a limited number of spots in the front for Kindergarten parents.
• Please drop off / pick up your children at the sidewalk as opposed to the middle of the parking lot.
• We encourage parents to use the Kiss and Ride option.
• Please do not hold up traffic.
• Watch for other children walking in the parking lot.
• Please pay attention to the direction for entering and exiting the parking lot (It is only One way)
• Reduce your speed
• Do not park in or close to our bus lane which prevents busses from entering/exiting.
• Refrain from parking in our wheelchair zones or entrance, which are clearly marked. Students using these services must be dropped off at the door.
It is necessary that we ensure the safety of our students at all times and we are asking for your cooperation in this matter!
